— It is not the first gold medal of Hungary at current Championships. If to look at the results of this age category you may see we are really strong. Surely, we could demonstrate much faster time. Although it doesn’t matter if you have already had the gold medal. It is pleasant to win over such strong opponents.
It is about getting to know more and more prize-winners of the Championship. The battle at the water is really hot. And let us present the champions of 2016 ICF Junior & U23 Canoe Sprint World Championships.

The Belarusian junior canoeists Alena Nazdrova and Nadzeya Makarchanka won the first gold medal of the Championships in C2 500 m:
— The best emotions. 500 m is our best distance, we are the champions of this year among elite athletes, and today we confirmed our status. In the morning we got up with mingled feelings, we had a wish to start and the excitement, but the aspiration to show a good result prevailed. We compete at home and there are so many fans. Of course, we would like to show high results. Today till the end of the distance we were thinking about the race, not about the medals. Only after the finish line we recognized that we have won. There were strong opponents at our distance, each pretended to the medal.
Chief Official Jens Kahl (Germany) stressed the water regatta, holding in Zaslavl these days, is the largest tournament, organized by the International Canoe Federation (ICF). 68 countries submitted the applications for participation in the Championships, 62 counties have come to Belarus.
— The Regatta Course in Zaslavl corresponds to all criteria for holding such major competitions. We have already seen the teams of Hungary, Russia, Germany, Belarus spurted into the leaders. They are at the leading roles, but I like that even “small” counties have come to the final and have had the possibility to fight for the medals.
